Each box contains 8 enriching activities with each one focusing on a specific Learning Objective that will give your child the opportunity to works towards achieving an Early Learning Goal from the national framework.
Your child will not only begin to develop their understanding of
numbers and letters, as well as their skills in communication, investigation and expression, but they should also gain confidence to try new things and begin to enjoy learning before they start primary school.
The boxes are design to include table-top activities, which require your child to develop
their concentration skills, as well as physical activities, which improve their gross and fine motor skills.

Goals for 2020 onwards. They set out the level of progress children should be expected
to have attained by the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage (end of
Reception year at primary school).
The Peggy Orange boxes have been developed around the Early Learning Goals for children aged 30-60 months, so will not be more advanced than they need to be.

The aim of many of the activities is to prepare your child for
school, supporting their development as well as their concentration. The more
you expose your child to ‘learning’ at this age, the more they will get used to
focusing for short periods of time.
If you have set up an activity but your child is not showing much interest, start the activity on your own - usually your child will come over and want to join in.
Go with your child - if they have an interest in doing something they are much more likely to complete it and gain something from it. However, if your child loses interest, or asks to stop, then do not force them to carry on. You can get the activity back out at another time.

You will need to go at their pace, stopping activities when they
lose interest, remembering that you can always go back to it later, or continuing to support them if they want to keep exploring the activity further.
